CMAS homeWelcome to the website of the Clinical Movement Analysis Society of UK and Ireland (CMAS). The society is involved with the analysis of human gait and other movement. The biomechanics of human movement has attracted interest from the earliest days of science and medicine. Movement analysis started with clinical observation of patterns of movement. This progressed to video recording allowing movement to be viewed repeatedly and in slow motion. Today, technology allows 3D motion capture where movement can be studied in greater detail and allows objective measures to be made. Movement analysis has many applications including sports science, medical research and the clinical management of patients with gait disorders. CMAS was formed to encourage professional interaction, develop and monitor professional standards and training and to stimulate and advance scientific knowledge in the fields of clinical motion analysis. The 11th Annual General and Scientific Meeting will be held on Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th April, 2012, at the Liverpool Medical Institute. The theme for the meeting will be “We Can Work it Out”.
